Born in 2007, Matija Špoljar (Drummer) is a session, studio and live drummer from Croatia. At the age of 4, Matija started showing interest in music and drums. Later, at the age of 5 Matija was brought to a concert that made him fall in love with the sound of drums!

Later, Matija got his first drum set and started chasing his dreams. He hasn’t really had any musical experiences until 2018, when he joined the Puhački orkestar DVD Đurđevac brass band. Matija started going to a music school to learn sheet music and to play the guitar. As his progress in music school got more serious, he started learning to read sheet music for the drums and guitar.

Matija’s playing is influenced by many drum legends, like Simon Phillips, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl and metal drummers like Mike Portnoy, II (Sleep Token), Gabe Helguera (I Prevail), Lars Ulrich, Joey Jordison, The Rev, Brooks Wackerman and many others.

In 2024, Matija got his first band experience by joining a band from Croatia, called The Fusion, making his first gigging experiences with an active band.

In 2025, Matija formed, alongside his friends, Gypsy Train – Toto Tribute Show. Matija left The Fuison to join Band Mladi, having many gigs yearly.

Matija is currently playing with Lidija Bačić Lille, Gypsy Train – Toto Tribute Show and Puhački orkestar DVD Đurđevac brass band.

In 2026, Matija got his first drum endorsements with Amedia Cymbals and Valcic Drumsticks.

Matija records drum covers from his home studio for his YouTube channel and publishes his musical experiences on his other social media.
